British Esports marks Reserves Day and Armed Forces Day

The British Esports Federation is recognising Reserves Day (today, June 24th 2026) and Armed Forces Day (June 27th) this week.

These days recognise the dedication, sacrifice and contribution of serving personnel, reservists, veterans and military families across the UK.

Reserves Day pays recognition to reservists, who make up one sixth of the UK’s Armed Forces and give up their spare time to serve in the Reserve Forces, balancing their civilian life with a military career to ensure that should their country require them, they would be ready to serve.

Armed Forces Day, meanwhile, offers a chance to show your support for the men and women who make up the Armed Forces community: from currently serving personnel to service families, veterans and cadets.

Both days are a part of a week-long celebration that kicked off on Monday June 22nd, honouring the British Army, Royal Navy and Royal Air Force.

Our support comes a few months after British Esports signed the Armed Forces Covenant to reaffirm our commitment to the military esports community.

Since its foundation in 2016, British Esports has a proud history of working closely with the British Military. It has worked with the Royal Air Force, Royal Navy and the British Army providing advice and support in the development of their esports offering.

Last year, the Ministry of Defence appointed British Esports to deliver a new esports tournament for military personnel in a bid to boost digital and cyber skills.

The inaugural International Defence Esports Games (IDEG) will run in Sunderland at our upcoming British Arena in October this year, while a launch event for IDEG took place in London late last year, featuring military representatives from more than 40 countries, a Rocket League showmatch and more.
