First AMD RX 9050 8 GB review suggests RTX 3060-like performance but with some strange spec discrepancies

I’m likely not the first to tell you that the memory crisis has really done a number on PC gaming, but nothing quite exemplifies this like AMD releasing a graphics card with 4-8 GB of VRAM in 2026. That card is called the RX 9050; it starts at $279, and it is limited to certain regions. One early review suggests performance isn’t great, but its specs are looking a little funky.

That review is from Japanese hardware outlet Hermitage Akihabara, which managed to get its hands on an 8 GB-toting ASRock model. Testing the card in 3DMark, Hermitage argues it “falls short of the 30fps generally considered the benchmark for comfortable single-player gameplay. Furthermore, its performance is only about 75% of that of its competitor, the GeForce RTX 5050, and just over 60% compared to the higher-end Radeon RX 9060 XT” (machine translated).
