At just 36 g, the Corsair Sabre V2 Pro is our favourite lightweight gaming mouse, and it's now at its best price

As competitive-level gaming mice get lighter and lighter, there’s a worry that they’ll get more costly and less sturdy as a result. Corsair’s Sabre V2 Pro calms that worry by being both well-built and reasonably priced, even at MSRP.

But, you don’t need to pay its MSRP to get what is, in our approximation, the best lightweight gaming mouse on the market. Right now, you can pay $80 at Amazon to get one for yourself. The only downside is that it’s only the black model that gets the discount.

Our Jacob gave this little rodent 92% in his review last year, claiming it is “a mouse that can truly lay claim to the ‘ultralight’ title.”

At a mere 36 grams, it’s easy to see why. Despite that tiny size, it doesn’t have chunks taken out of it, like some of its competitors, and doesn’t feel cheap either. You also wouldn’t purely buy it for the weight, as it’s backed up with some killer specs.

The Marksman S optical sensor is fantastic, and it comes up to 33,000 DPI, a max acceleration of 50 G, max speed of 750 IPS and even up to 8,000 Hz polling. I probably wouldn’t stick it any higher than 1,000 Hz in normal play (as it cuts the battery life down from 70 hours to a mere 16), but it’s still a nice option to have should you be skilled enough to get the use out of it.

You are only getting one onboard profile, though, so on-the-fly customisation is a bit tough, and the UPE skates are a little worse than traditional PTFE. You are getting better durability in return, but it’s still a tradeoff worth noting.

However, with those caveats out of the way, this truly is an excellent competitive mouse, and it was a genuine boon to Jacob in his FPS games.

One thing the mouse is missing is any of the more flashy elements some gaming mice go for. You get no RGB here, and only a handful of buttons. To me, that’s a neutral-to-positive choice for Corsair, but some do really like their mouse to shine at night.

Still, if you find most gaming mice are a little on the heavy side and want something snappy and light to help you hit headshots, the Sabre V2 Pro is an excellent lightweight wireless gaming mouse. At $20 off, we have seen it go this low before, but never any lower, so it’s a great pick at its price point. And importantly, it’s sturdy, looks nice, and performs excellently.
