Modders finally got a high-quality third-person camera working in Baldur's Gate 3 for all you Dragon Age sickos

A CRPG in the vein of Baldur’s Gate without a bird’s-eye view camera sure sounds wrong, but it feels so right. If you’re looking for something a little more Dragon Age and less Divinity for your next replay, Modder Relysia has gone and stuck an over-the-shoulder third-person camera in Baldur’s Gate 3, uploading it to Nexus Mods last week, and it looks a lot better than you may expect.

Watch On

In the brief showcase teaser, you can see the player wandering around the Undercity Ruins. Animations are a tad jittery, but because BG3’s environments are made to be zoomed in and gawked at and shown off in dialog cutscenes, everything is at a believable scale. I’m not sure this would work in all of the game’s environments to the same extent, but that it works at all is nifty.
