These are the only RTX 5060 gaming laptops worth a damn right now, and I'd 100% be buying the OLED one

Good sub-$1,000 budget gaming laptops are, I’m afraid to say, almost impossible to find right now. As the RAM crisis (and various other economic factors) are forcing PC hardware prices up, I’m seeing silly prices on machines featuring Nvidia’s most-desirable budget graphics chip, the RTX 5060 mobile.

However, it’s not all bad news. While you’ll have to spend over the magic $1,000 marker, I’ve come up with three RTX 5060 lappys that represent the best value you’ll find in the current market.

One’s a budget banger that used to cruise around the $900 mark, but still makes sense for $1,050. Another combines some choice components with a robust chassis design that feels like you’re getting your money’s worth. And the last…

Well, the last has a 240 Hz OLED display. And while it’s the most expensive of the three, it’s the one I’d be stretching my budget to accommodate.

Whichever you pick, though, you’ll still be getting a great RTX 5060 laptop for some of the cheapest prices around. Times are tough, but all of these machines are worth your time and money—and that’s more than I can say for most of the retailer listings in 2026.

Lenovo LOQ | $1,050

I remember the days when this Lenovo lappy could be found for $900, and dropped to $800 or so during the sales. That being said, it’s still the cheapest RTX 5060 machine I’d buy with my own cash, even though it’s now $1,050 at Best Buy.

We gave this exact model a score of 81% in our review, which is pretty good going for such a budget machine. It’s got a surprisingly-refined chassis design, a 144 Hz 1080p screen, and a 115 W variant of the RTX 5060 mobile—which is a darn sight more powerful than the version you’ll find in most budget RTX 5060 laptops.

The biggest caveat? A single stick of 16 GB DDR5, which means it’s a little memory bandwidth limited. The gaming performance isn’t too badly affected, though, which means it’s still worth a shout if you’re really scraping the pennies.

Oh, and it’s got a very small SSD. You do have to make some concessions when you’re going this cheap, unfortunately, but it’s still well worth considering on a tight budget.

Lenovo Legion 5 | $1,132

The LOQ is the cheapest gaming laptop model Lenovo currently makes, but boost the budget a little and you’re in Legion 5 territory. This one’s also got a 115 W RTX 5060 mobile, except this time it’s been paired with a 1600p, 165 Hz display.

That’s a lot of pixels for an RTX 5060 to produce, but DLSS and Multi Frame Generation will be your saviour here. The chassis has an overbuilt yet still reasonably slim design that makes you feel like you’ve got your money’s worth, and the CPU is an eight-core, 16 thread AMD unit that should provide plenty of oomph.

This particular model used to found in 32 GB variants for similar cash, but the RAM crisis soon put paid to that. And, it must be said, it’s got a tiny SSD. Be prepared for a lot of those when you’re shopping at this end of the listings.

Still, this laptop represents a decent value proposition in the current market at $1,148 even without a discount. Keep an eye on the settings when you’re feeding that display, and I reckon you’ll have lots of fun—but the real apple of my eye can be found below.

Acer Predator Helios Neo 16S | $1,200

For $1,200, this Acer machine really stands out on our cheap gaming laptop deals page. It’s a slim and sleek contender, balancing a 16-inch screen size with a chassis that makes it very backpack-friendly.

The real prize, though, comes in the form of the panel. It’s a 240 Hz OLED display, which is the real sweet spot when it comes to laptop screen technology in 2026.

Like the Legion 5 above, it’s a 1600p unit, which means DLSS will be your friend in the demanding stuff. However, having had the pleasure of testing many, many OLED laptops, I can tell you that it’s the screen tech you really want. Vivid colors, near-infinite contrast—everything looks better on an OLED, and for that reason, I’d put my money down on this before just about anything else right now.

The CPU is beastly, too. It’s a 24-core (eight Performance, 16 Efficient) Intel chip that’s more usually found in high-end laptops. And while it’s been paired with just 16 GB of RAM (like virtually all laptops on discount at the moment), that’s likely not going to hold it back in terms of gaming performance, as our RAM testing has shown.

All that, plus a 1 TB SSD? This is a gaming laptop with remarkably few caveats, and I’m genuinely surprised every time I see this discount still running.

If you’ve got the cash to splash, it’s absolutely the RTX 5060 laptop I’d recommend to you right now. At least until prices drop again in, oooh, 2028 by current estimations. Sorry to end on a downer, but at least these machines give you options, yes?
